Junkyard archeology does it for me. I've escaped reality when I'm on an abandoned or bulldozed trash dump, home site or garbage pile looking for treasure. I'm intrigued by antiquity.
You?

Love estate sales, flea markets and haunting Good Will.....and love being around serene lakes and moutains and just taking it all in. I can lose myself completely in both settings.
But what REALLY makes time stand still is everytime another grandchild is born, and just holding them in my arms and gazing down at them. A new baby...especially a grand'...is what does it for me.

I live on the edge of a deep ravine. At one point it was covered in a deep inlet of Lake Ontario and the hill I live on was an island. Since I was a child I have been digging along the rim of the ravine occasionally to unearth clues about the past. I was VERY EXCITED the day I found a flint arrowhead.
When my brother and I were digging holes for the posts of a fence we were putting in to prevent dogs and people from wandering the property uninvited, it absolutely fascinated me to reach my arm two feet down and pull out a water rounded stone that had probably lain unmolested for 10,000 years. I would have "wasted" a lot more time marvelling at those rocks if my brother hadn't been so impatient.
Note to Juju...watch out for Wally...he's cutting quite a swathe through the hearts of the ladies her on Seniors!

I am with you, JuJu. Finding a blast from the past makes time stand still for me. I am always browsing flea markets and junk shops looking for those treasures. And, actually, a few of the questions on seniors have brought back some great memories.

I'm hoping that oil of olay will do it! Failing that,(and I expect it will) flea-markets do it for me as well. I went to a really good one in Hells Kitchen NY last week. It had some great vintage clothes and accessories from the 30's till the 80's when the quality was so much better.

My father-in-law lived in Fallon, NV for several years and he had a view of the Emigrant Trail from his ranch house. He had a collection of artifacts left on this trail by the brave pioneers who made the journey to the West. I got started on my antiques interest when my mother used to take me along on her quests for items, some of which my sister and I still have.

Being here on the computer answering Q&A's. I look up at the clock and where has all the time gone. I feel it is standing still, but not so.
Reading books, once I start I can't put it down, same feeling.

The marvelous temple structures of south India stunned me with their beauty, arts and sculptures. They were carved out of hard stones like granite some two millennium back and appear to have been made only yesterday.Marble icons appear really life like. When I first saw them, time stood still for me. Their amazing beauty is hard to be described by words.

The music of my youth. When I hear an old 45 from the 50's, time stands still, I close my eyes and I'm somewhere else entirely. (doesn't work too well if I'm driving at the time !)

Boy, I have heard of some cheap dates in my life, but you take the cake... :-) I cannot help but wonder just how many other women would consider it a highlight of the day to be taken to a garbage pit and turned loose! Hmmmmm ON the other hand, it takes all kinds....Phil
