Conservatives have been saying for years that the media is biased, and Liberals always blindly ignore the bias they see, or maybe they aren't smart enough to see it. I dunno. Well, maybe I can try to educate a few Liberals today. Read this article from the Daily Telegraph in the UK:

Just read the headline. From reading it, what do you think the story is about? Probably that Fred Thompson is just giving up on the presidential race, right?
Wrong. He just made a little joke, and they used it to deceive people into thinking he gave up.

Do you see the spin? Anyone who just reads the headline thinks “Well, Fred’s out”, not knowing that the headline is 100% WRONG.

And if you don’t see the spin there, I guess there’s just no hope for you. Just go watch Oprah and vote for who she tells you to vote for.

Do you agree?

let me take this opportunity to be the FIRST liberal in HISTORY to say "yes, every person has a bias, and every organization may reflect the bias of its members/owners/leaders, etc"

if i get some kids praying and a flag as my avatar, will that make me both religious AND patriotic????

I agree with you 110%, if the media didn't have an adgenda and just reported the facts most everyone would be supporting our troops. Did you know that they reported our troop casualties but never the enemy casulties. When we hit 3000 troop deaths it was on every news channel..what they didn't tell you is that over 26000 enemys had been killed and over 25000 had been captured! If you just hear that we lost 3000 people it looks like we are loosing the war. But to the dissamay of congress (which has the LOWEST approval rating of all time) we are winning, throw thoose treasonsist bastards in jail where they belong with our enemies.

I agree that some of the media has a Liberal bias. Just like some, but not many, have a Conservative bias. It goes both ways.

It's a UK newspaper. That has bearing on American politics HOW?

Everyone thinks the media is biased. Do you really think FOX News is unbiased? Get real!

The thing is, the media is middle of the road, for the most part. This means that the media is going to be to the left of the conservatives and to the right of the liberals. That's what being in the middle is like.

To those on the right, it looks like the media is biased liberal. No, it just means that the media isn't as far right as you are.

You want some evidence that the media isn't a liberal mouthpiece?

When Bill Clinton lied about sex, major headlines were in every national paper for months. It was a huge scandal, and it was about NOTHING but a scandal about sex. No one died. No one was even hurt except Bill and Hillary. The Reps called for him to be impeached over it, and that made the papers, too.

But when Bush lied about WMD and spent months trying to convince people Iraq was responsible for 9/11, resulting in thousands of dead Americans and tens of thousands of dead Iraqis, where is the media outcry? What major newspaper has published story after story after story calling for his impeachment?

Show some balance, dude.

Not really. I don't like the fact that John Edwards doesn't get mentioned as much as Clinton and Obama. Is THAT the vast right wing conspircy in action?

Journalism: The debate is over. A consensus has been reached. On global warming? No, on how Democrats are favored on television, radio and in the newspapers.

Where did the folks on the right get the impression that the left only reads headlines? I don't know about you but I read the article. The headline is meant to peak your interest so you;ll read the article, not be informative on its own.

You have to be intellectually dishonest or just plain dumb NOT to see the left leanings of the main stream media....they have attacked this President and our troops throughout this war and they are a disgrace and traitors to their country.....

You certainly don't sound like a "Free thinking American" to me. Sounds like your mind was made up a long time ago. Yes, much of the media is biased -- but not all liberal biases. Fox News is laughingly biased toward the GOP. If you can't see that, then you only see half the picture.

You can't cite a BRITISH paper as evidence for media bias in the American media, which is the right wing's constant complaint. Even that is a canard. It's a CORPORATE media, above all, and reflects corporate interests. And there's an abundance of right-wing media to counterbalance what little actual Liberalism there is.
