I'm 53 and I have just been quoted a plan at £55 per month. Is it worthwhile considering this although I'm in good health at present?

I've been a bupa member for years and not had to use it, thankfully. However it gives you peace of mind should anything bad happen you will get treatment quickly and quality is assured. As we all know quality doesn't come cheap. So it depends if extra peace of mind is worth £55 a month to you really?

Bupa will not conver pre-existing conditions and you will still have to visit your local GP and he/she would then refer you to a Bupa hospital should you so choose.

In a world of longer wating lists and a struggling NHS service, I can't see it hurting and if you decide to cancel in the future you can.

Wish I could be of more help. It will come down to money verses what if's and well being? If money isn't a problem, then go for it. It covers alot of things including backs and you can get money off other health services too. Check out the cover thoroughly and make sure it's right for you.

Good luck!

If you can spare £55 a month, why not. It won't hurt (except your pocket) and you'll have piece of mind should anything bad happen....

Yes that sounds ok at your age - but have you been accepted yet? i.e. has it been underwritten because the premium could go up if you have had any illnesses etc.
