1.)In your opinion, which of the characters are tolerant? Why?

2.)There seems to be more at stake in this trial than one man's guilt or innocence. What other things are affected by the verdict?

1) I think the character of Marcie is the most tolerant. Who else but Marcie would have put up with being left at a railway station like that. And then when the Captain killed her pet bird and she just forgave him without a word...remarkable.

2) The other things that are affected by the verdict are the Earth's gravitational pull, the fate of Marcie's bird and the weather.

3) We know Tom is innocent because he tells us so with his impassioned plea to 'sing if you're (we're) glad to be gay'. He is convicted anyway because he *is* gay.

Hope that helped!!!

What in the world is Tracle-A saying? o_o

1) Atticus. He saw the trial through to the end, although he was being ridiculed.

2) The prejudice the whites had towards the blacks.Other things affected? Hmm...how Jem and Scout matured? They saw things differently after the trial(seeing a different and harsh side of Maycomb.

3) Most of Mayella's bruises were on the right side of her face, so that implied that a left-handed person hit her. (read carefully, it's so obvious!) Tom doesn't have a left hand, how could he hit Mayella on the right side of her body? Atticus so cleverly pointed out that Bob Ewell was left-handed.
That, and the fact that Bob Ewell didn't call for a doctor although his daughter was so badly beaten up. Why else wouldn't he have? Because he was the one who beat his daughter up when he was drunk.
Read the part where Mayella was being question. Carefully.
When Atticus asked her about her father being drunk.

Hope this helps. :)

I LOVE THIS STORY! i know that tom robinson was innocent because he was a nice guy and he was convicted because he was colored..that is what this whole book is practically based on is racism and how men and women were not treated equally...the whole jury at the trial was full of white men, no women, and no colored people!
