The book "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley explores test tube babies and using conditioning and mind control to create classes of workers. For instance, babies that were created to serve as construction laborers were given electric shock when the babies tried to touch a rose. By conditioning the babies to ignore nature, they would not be distracted from their labours. It sort of reminds me of the electronic fences individuals put in their yards to condition family dogs to stay within the property.
I also remember comic books at my Catholic school in the 50's and 60's we were allowed to read if we finished our work. These comics were designed to teach children the Communists would take away our religious freedom and make us slaves if the Communists took over the United States. Between the information of these comics, and the nuclear blast drills at school because of Cuba, I was terrified in elementry school of the Communists.

Media, films, radio. From the time we get up in the morning to when we go to bed we are bombarded with opinion forming information designed to get us to believe, buy or become something we may not naturally be. It is actually more insidious than what goes on in the book 1984.

One example of mind control that is in use today is called the Shock Doctrine.
Scare Americans into supporting your polices and ignoring the infringements of their civil rights.

Creationists attempting to sweep things under the rug, such as the fossil record, and modern biology as a whole, are a prime example of "doublethink". Modern religious folks know that evolution is a very real thing. But they still allow themselves to believe something they know is false, such as the story of Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, etc...
