Is this true? I just saw a video about it but unfortunately I don't understand all the Arabic. I was able to read the French decription of the video though. If anybody has any more details or knows of place online where I can read more about it I would love to know. Is there more to the story than that? I want to blog about this and wished I had the name and address of the place so I could give the French hotel owner a piece of my mind. :P How can you go visit a country knowing of the athan and then complain about it...and how much more corrupt can the police in Morocco get? I had tears in my eyes to see the doors to the masjid locked. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x36thj_fermeture-mosquee-marrakech

I showed my sil she said that the police said the building was going to fall down so they condemned it. I wish some rich person would come around, tear it down, build a new one with a tall minaret for the athan!!!

I've heard about this story back in Ramadan, but the authorities said that the reason behind closing the mosque was safety reasons, because the mosque was old and they have to close it for repairs, i believe this story too, because i never heard of a mosque getting closed in morocco because of some tourists, Moroccans are smart about that, if there's a tourist area, they don't build mosques there in the first place.

on the sunset prayer in a Muslim united states you'll be crushed with the Azan from the mosques surrounding you. For different 4 prayers you may pay attention to an Azan after yet another Azan from the encircling mosques.

Salaam Alaykum, many Muslim countries sister are sacrificing their religion for profit. Not just Turkey/Morrocco ..take a look at Dubai..spending Billions of dollars on a 7 star hotel,an indoor ice skating rink, and now another world's tallest buildings. There is a water theme park were scantili clad European tourists slip and slide into a pool. They eat and drink as their brothers die. They travel first class on million dollar private jets. King Fahd's nephew is the 13th richest man in the world with 23 Billion dollars and many other princes, princesses, and emir's...and they spend this money on outrageous ostentation displays of wealth while the Palesitinans and Iraqi's die..The Royal Hashemite Kingdom's
royal Princess Aaliaya comes to Florida twice a year when school is out in Jordan and her children, as with many other so called Royals educate their children in the West. Queen Rania gets invited to a party and is wearing a expensive designer sleeveless dress that made her look more like a Victoria Secret model than a Queen of an Arab land where
her neighbors in Iraq are being brutalized. Her neighbors in Palestine are in the middle of an ongoing genocide. She can wear whatever she wants it was a Time magazine function and she selected a very beautiful expensive dress for a party! Come on...When are the Arab Monarchs going to throw some of their table scraps for the sick, suffering, and dying
Palestinians and Iraqi's. I guess never because it's so good to be the king. I hate this ...and we can't forget Egypt's Hosni Mubarack good for nothing but corrupt Egypt. I Inshallah wish they in the in the afterlife see what they have done to each other in the name of greed, money, and power! Wasalaam.

I don't believe this mosque closed down because of objection from tourists. Tourists like to hear the azan in islamic countries.

ALEXANDRA, you are wrong to accuse arab nations of not helping arab countries in trouble. We help but doesn't mean we have to give up our normal lives to help people who don't want to help themselves.

It is also very bad to say that of Queen Raina. She is very respectable. You have no right and also very narrow-minded to say
'Queen Rania gets invited to a party and is wearing a expensive designer sleeveless dress that made her look more like a Victoria Secret model than a Queen of an Arab'
How can a long sleeveless dress look like lingerie? I think you are extremist and just jealous of Queen Raina's beauty. People like you make Islam look like a mad religion.

Thats sad it makes me ashamed to be a Moroccan... People here are getting so greedy and selfish that they start to forget all about their religion. Prostitution is everywhere and the thing that breaks my heart the most is see all these kids smoking cigarets thinking they're being cool.
