I am 35 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first child and had a few questions.
1- What does it feel like when your water breaks or can you not feel it at all.
2- How often should you be feeling contractions and how dull or sharp can they be?
3- Is it normal to be having severe back pain?

1) It feels like you peed yourself. Some times its a huge gush, other times you just stand up and you feel wet. It slows down to almost nothing, and then when you move again it gushes out a little more.

2) You can have contractions all day, they can hurt or not hurt. Youre almost 36 weeks which means you will probably have more contractions as time goes on. As a rule of thumb, until you're 37 weeks you shouldnt have more than 6 strong contractions in an hour. If you have a lot of contractions lay down for 30 minutes and drink somthing. They should stop- if not, call your midwife. After 37 weeks you can have how ever many it takes to get you to where theyre 3 minutes apart,

3) I spent every night my last month of pregnancy crying frm back pain. It hurts. Really bad. You might be having some back labor, or its just the pain of pregnancy. I went swimming and that help a lot. Just floating in the water to take the weight off my back.

Your water breaking can feel like a gush or a trickle that doesn't stop.

If you are in true labor, your contractions will be dull to start, and get more intense as time goes by and they get closer together. As far as just how dull or sharp the pain is, I truely believe it depends on each individuals pain tolerance level.

Severe back pain can be normal if you are in labor. It is called back labor. And it is awful. If you are currently having severe back pain, call your doctor to be checked. Often times, your water will not break until someone in the hospital breaks it for you, don't count on your water breaking being the sign to head to the hospital...

1) Usually, when your water breaks, it literally gushes out. If you can imagine a water balloon inside you, and it bursts, it's like that. It's pretty obvious. SOMETIMES, though, it can be a "slow leak", but that should still be pretty obvious.

2) I didn't have contractions at all until I was ready to go. They feel like your stomach is clenching. They start out pretty mild. Even when they get more noticeable they are still OK- I kept thinking "Is this it? This is nothing!" But I was so wrong! When your contractions kick it up to ready-to-go, it is very intense.

3) Back pain is normal- severe back pain is not. If you are having severe back pain, think your water has broken, and think you might be having contractions, you should probably call your doctor. Maybe your due date is off, or maybe the baby is just ready to go.

When my water broke I was sleeping, so I dont know what the inital feeling is like there, but I know when I was waking up and I rolled over, I thought I had peed the bed or something, all I could feel was a mushy mess. So I got up and went to the bathroom, and nothing would come out...but I was soaked! (and not just in water)

Then I was having contractions according to the machine that I was hooked up to in the hospital, but I couldnt feel anything. So they were very dull. I didnt start feeling contractions till about 3 hours later after they stared me on the petosin (sp) to speed up the dialation.

I carried mostly in my back so I had back pain thru the whole pregnancy, remember......Epedural (sp) is your friend!!!!

first off congrats on baby
1-most of the time its a huge gush of water but sometimes you can trickle for awhile if you feel somethings not right call your dr right away.
2.when contractions first start they are about 10 minutes apart usually but that not set in stone everyone is diffrent.the further down the birth canal the baby travels the faster the contractions come and the more painful they are, they can be one right after the next.happened to me with my last i would get one as soon as it was over not even a minute later i was having another one.the closer together they are the closer it is to baby being born
3-yes back pain in labor is normal, its called back labor.and for some reason it was worse with my son.have your partner rub your back and put warm compresses on it and wont take it away but it may help relieve some pain

1)when your water breaks you will already be having noticable contractions so you will know, if not from the contractions then from the pants full fo water
2)they start off far apart and barely (some times not at all) noticable as you come closer to the birth they get sharper, longer and closer together. They will become very very painful towards the time to give birth unless you get an epidural which will take away most sensation from the process
3)oh yeah

My water broke on a sunday and my daughter was born tuesday at 3 am. i woke up monday morning feeling a little drizzle and when i went to the bathroom it smelled like hydrogen peroxide, im not sure if that was normal but that was the odor i smelled. I didnt have any contractions that i would consider "contractions" however i did have a tingling sensation on my upper back that i woke up with.

severe back pain is totally normal mines absolutley killing me at the min, well every min of the day to be frank.

Water's everyone is different but here is my experience.
Was in full on labour and i felt like i needed a poo i was in too much pain to move so i thought im just going to have to do it here, there was only my mum in the room anyway as my partner was waiting outside,so i just pushed thinking i was going to poo myself then pop my waters went everywhere.
My son followed about 11-13 mins later

I certainly felt a popping sensation as my waters broke.

Contractions-well i didnt even know what braxton hicks was as no-one had told me so the whole time i'd been having them with my son i just thought it was him sticking his body out more.
But the night i went into labour i had sat down and realised that my stomach was going hard and soft quite often instead of normally doing it once or twice it kept doing it.
So i deceided to time it-when i did i realised that what i was experiencing was contractions as they was happening every 3-4mins apart and lasting over a minute each time.
At that point they wasnt painfull so i went for a walk then hot bath.
When i got into the bath and lay down it sent me into full blown labour and thats when the contractions became painfull they felt like the worst period pains ever but 10x's worst.

But all in all i enjoyed my labour and im really looking forward to doing it again this time.
Yes labour hurt's but it is such an amazing experience.

I am to at danger for having a little one any day. I am 35 weeks and three days. The medical professionals desire to peer me pass untill 37 weeks, that's viewed complete time period. I had steriod photographs to aid develope the infants lungs at 31 weeks. My surgeon stated if little one had been to come back now they could anticipate little if any scientific disorders. Some infants want no aid, and will keep in room with mommy after delivery. Others handiest want a couple of hours within the NICU at the same time getting aid with respiring, at the same time others might want weeks to aid get the suckling down for feedings, an Incubator to aid hold their frame temp up, and a couple of different problems. There fairly is not any method of telling how little one goes to do untill they come. You are so nearly being viewed complete time period (37 weeks), Baby could absolutly be o.k., despite the fact that might want little aid with a couple of matters for a couple of days or per week and ought to keep! Other sensible, longer term results or wellbeing disorders I could now not be involved approximately in any respect!!!

My water broke and all i felt was water running out of me. It would stop for a second or two then come out again. It felt just like I was urinating on myself!
My contractions were irregular (meaning there was no consistant pattern about them) and they just felt like period cramps. They were pretty painful.
I never got severe back pain, but I believe it is normal. I think it's a good sign that your baby is ready to come-but you should double check that.
