Yes, the first Thanksgiving was an occasion when the Pilgrims gave thanks to God. History books when I was school still had this fact in them and was later revised to say that they gave thanks to the Indians so as to separate any vestige of Christianity from our heritage, as has been done so often in the last few decades. Many history books are being restored to the truth today to tell the correct story as it actually happened. Thank God for that. You may be able to find some info or documentation at Wallbuilders.

The first thanksgiving was with the pilgrims and the indians when the first immigrants came over in the Mayflower. They left England, most of them, to escape religious persecution but they still believed in God. The immigrants were very religious people so I'm sure they gave thanks to God for their food and blessings.

it was a religious celebration and both the pilgrims and
Native American Indians participated. and no they didn't
kill each, nor rape each other, nor abuse each other in
anyway. they were Thankful for the harvest and gave
Thanks to ADONAI for it.

the pilgrims and Indians got along well. not all Indians were
good one and vice-verses.

but they did celebrate together. it is sad that no one
knows American History any more. the Indians were not
demons nor were the Pilgrims. how sad that this blurred
today!

i dont know that I would consider this a religious occasion. It was a thankful celebration. Many cultures gave thanks to some type of higher power for the bounty that they were given.
