I NEED a breast reduction due to back pain...
DO i just keep going to the doctor over and over, complaining of the pain? What will he do for me for that entire 6 month period?

It depends on how picky your insurance company is.

With mine, I did NOT need any documentation, only the pictures that the PS took and the complaints I had in their office.

Some require you to lose weight, or see a chiropractor first, or require documentation prior to seeing the PS.

do you have ALL INSURANCE? Does it make a difference what other insurance companies ask for? Because at the end of the day you'll still have the same one you woke up with. New job excluded.

More to the point - you need to call your company and ask specifically what their guidelines are. Tell them your condition and what you want to do and what your doctor has recommended. If their guidelines say 6 months of documentation - ask if that's 6 months from the initial recommendation or 6 months of visits.

Insurance companies are rather like god (or believe themselves to be) - minus the whole free will thing.

If your insurance company requires that you play hopscotch for 6 months before they'll pay for the surgery - you better be prepared to do so. Unless tensies in Jacks is the equivalent!

Most of the time, yes. To be sure, contact the insurance company and ask for specifics. Be sure that the doctor's office is properly documenting every complaint during every visit you make and be as cooperative as possible. It's a painful procedure and it takes awhile for approval, but there are soooo many benefits to it that it all is worthwhile. Good luck, hon!
