Apparently he likes soccer. Get hold of his soccer ball and make a template of one of the sides (I know there are many but they should all be the same size). If you can get a picture of the ball you will know how to place the pieces of cloth. Sew them together. Put in the last piece unless you have it so you only have a slot and stuff the ball. Fasten and you have it. Before you stuff it and to make it more personal why don't you sign it (and put a message on it) and go over the signature with thread so it won't come off. May be you could get Grandpop's signature on it too
