PETA is like the radical islam of the pet world. If you dont agree with them, then they think you should be hanged. Being zealous can always be taken too far. IF they showed both sides of the story they would have no reason to exist.

I do agree that it is a very bad investigation if they only looked at the one store, and scrutinized all of the chain. But there is a possiblity that they mention that this investigation is only about the one store.
However, if they didn't make this clear then they can be sued for making the pet stores lose work or reputation due to false allegations.
I think in this one particular investigation they have taken advantage of their powers and either purposefully spited your store or by accident, either way it is worth looking into, or at least e-mailing them to point out their mistake.
I don't believe they knew the other side of the story exists.

On the whole, PETA does a commendable job at exposing the inhumane treatment of animals. With any organization that champions a cause, there is a level of fanaticism and those are the ones that will "embellish" that on which they report, making pet stores sound like concentration camps.
PETA has done a lot of good. Don't sell the organization short because of a few zealots.

Haven't you figured out that PETA, like most of the animal rights groups, exists primarily by using predatory tactics and preying on peoples' fear and ignorance? I HATE PETA and its tactics for just that reason- and because they are little better than eco-terrorists most of the time. I am a horse owner, a dog owner, and I have owned both types of animals for most of my life. I am not cruel or abusive to any living thing, and I do not support or condone actions or groups which are.
PETA and other groups like it are repugnant to me- their tactics make me sick at times. The so- called "investigation" of the store you work for is a classic tactic of theirs. So is the misinformation they are putting out. PETA has such one sided views because they have people running it who are very narrow, close minded people who only see things one way, and who think theirs is the only right way to see the world. To make matters worse, they think that they are always right on every issue, whether it relates to animal welfare or not. Hope that answers your question.

I feel PETA are extremists, just like radical fundamentalists of any kind. They feel they are right and everyone else is wrong. As hunter, a pet owner and a proud meat eater...I feel that all the world governments should take the same stand...PETA should be right up there with El Quada. My opinion.

Because if they tell the truth.. it's not so bad and nobody will support them. So they basically LIE to get the support and the results they want.
They use these tactics because people are sheeple and will just follow along.
The general public doesn't want to do the research themselves. They just go onto their website and believe that what they are told is gospel. Because they are a big organization does not mean they they are an honest organization!!
I see it all the time. Nobody wants to be an individual and nobody wants to use their brain (then they would have to take responsibility for their own actions!!) as I said.. SHEEPLE!!!

While I definitely support some of their causes, like more humane treatment for animals in general, not wearing fur or reptile skin, harsher penalties for animal abuse and neglect, etc, I have a problem putting my faith completely in an organization that believes if you have a pet, you are a slave owner, who thinks most animals would rather be extinct than live with humans, who puts more animals down every year than they save by far, and wants all pit bulls exterminated.
Not to mention whose founder, Ingrid Newkirk, wrote in her will that she wants her skin to be made into purses, part of her flesh barbecued, and her feet turned into an umbrella stand. Does that sound a tad kooky to anyone else, or just me?
(if you don't believe me, type in Ingrid Newkirk's will in a google search. Prepare to be disturbed.)
If you want more information about the darker side of PETA, try http://www.myspace.com/thetruthaboutpeta and http://www.myspace.com/thetruthaboutpeta2.
Good luck, I hope that will help you in your quest for information. ;)
