Yes we have one on everyfloor and keep them at the inside entranceway to the basement near the kitchen, the upstairs bedroom and another in the basement. They are checked often and we have smoke detectors on every level as well. They are changed yearly. Thanks for asking this question Lady G, you may have saved someones life by prompting them to check these items.

I have 1 fire extinguisher on a cabinet sidewall in the kitchen, another in the upstairs hallway, and another in the downstairs hallway. I have another in a box... will have to see where that is right now.
I check them myself. They have an indicator that tells you how they are. ALSO... if you tip them over a couple of times, that keeps the ingredients inside fluffed and prevents them settling down and losing potency.
The smoke detector in my new home is wired into the electrical circuits because that is the law in my area. The little home elsewhere on the farm has a battery powered one. I check it every few months. It's supposed to have a flashing light that tells me when the batteries require replacement. You need to read the book on YOUR detector!

I do need to get at least two of them. One to keep in the kitchen and one to keep by the wood stove in the basement. I just keep putting it off. I do have smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector. Replaced the batteries last weekend.

I have one fire extinguisher....it is a closet close to the kitchen, hangs on the wall........
I have numerous smoke detectors and check once a year, usually every August 11th............but if my batteries get low, then they start beeping, so i know to change them....
we also have a carbon monoxide detector as well.......it is close to our furnace, by the kitchen.......
good question.........

I live in an apartment complex. There are fire extinguishers in the hallways and they are routinely serviced. My smoke detector is wired electrically.
