I think it's foolish to assume that Iran will simply simmer down like a scolded child.

I think it's foolish to assume there is any such plan on the books.

The Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is only a pawn of Mr. Putin; retaliation? It depends on the summits of the G8 in future (or on the present Cold War between the U.S and Russia). About Israelis Mossad this affair is classified of course… FOOLISH!
To conclude, Iran cannot retaliate to a U.S/Israeli airstrikes.

Don't forget that Iran Iraq are neighbours; don't also forget that the Arabs are watching what is happening in the entire middle East. It just a matter of time. I don't think that they will continue to be as foolish as a heard of sheep in the eyes o wolfs. What happen in Iraq will not be the same as what America/Israeli are planning to do, if that plan in on the ground. Any way let's wait and see. But I pray it will not happen.

Iran is capable of doing many things. For starters, they could easily cut off the flow of oil in the Gulf.

Noonei, in his earlier post, is correct. Iran could easily flood Iraq with 500,000, or more, troops and overwhelm our 130,000 troops.

What could the U.S. Air Force do once the Iranians are imbeded into Iraq? Any bombing would further risk Iraqi civilians and our own troops.

Iran is Shiite, and if they go into Iraq, then Saudi Arabia comes into Iraq to protect the Sunnuis.

Also russia and China have already expressed support for Iran if the U.S. attacks, so we are looking at a potential WW III.

Let's just hope God doesn't tell Bush to start bombing Iran.

They have always played a " bully " role and looks as if they always will. They are similar to North Korea - all talk and the courage of a small child. I think pride would really cost their people uneeded harm, but what can you do ??
As far as HOW they would retaliate - not an issue , as we pretty much are military top dog and now with lessons learned in Iraq - HOPEFULLY , it would go without the aforementioned harm to the innocent.

I dont think that they would respond directly by launching missiles or invading Iraq.

They are smart enough to realize doing that would hurt them more than the US or Israel.

Likely they would use proxies like Hezbollah and instigate suicide bombers to attack American positions in Iraq.

They could also try to instigate an oil crisis, but considering that the gulf states would not go along it would not be that serious.

They told us .
With 11,000 rounds per minute.
Don't play, play.
The last time poor old Saddam did similar too.
When the real thing happen.
Nobody want to sink and swim with him.
Was left all alone standing out there on his own.
Still fresh with Total Recall.
What do you think?

Not really, they have done it before. The minute Ronald Reagan took office they released the hostages they had been holding in the 80's.
