Without charting, you will never know for sure. I'm not being rude, but honestly you won't. Different women have varying Follicular phases, Luteal Phases and ovulate differently. With that being said, the only days you can probably count on not getting preg is the first 3 days of your cycle (first 3 days on your period) Once you start charting, you will know when you're fertile and not. PS- Once you KNOW! there are only about 8 days a month you're fertile.

You are most fertile at 12 to 16 days after your period, when your ovary releases an egg.You are most unfertile just before or after your period, you could have sex without the condom, but there is always the chance that your period is either early or late.Dr:"We have a term for people that don't use protection,We call them "Mothers".-Robert Heinlein;the book "I will fear no evil".Before you get pregnant make sure your partner knows the risks, and agrees. Many Men like to love'm and leave'm,if you've seen Jerry Springer or Maury Povitch.

You must be careful! Even though you might not be ovulating...... the trick to it is that sperm can live inside the woman for up to 5 days.........so you might thinnk that you are covered but actually not........... that is how alot of unplanned pregnancies happen because people don't truly understand their cycles and how they really work. Conception rarely takes place right during intercourse but takes palce sometime afterwards...........
I am going to give you my standard answer.......go get a book called "taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. It will help you truly understand your body and cycle and erase all the myths that women believe about their bodies.I believed all the ovulation & conception myths that are floating around here until we tried for a year with no luck. It's not just for women trying to get pregnant but for women trying not to also!
My doctor recommended the book and it worked the very next month! It turned out my timing was wrong and that I don't ovulate in the middle of my cycle like most women.
I'll be 40 in Nov....and I am due to have my 4th in March!

I was having trouble getting pregnant the first time, and my mother told me a trick. You are most fertile the week after your period. During that time, have sex every OTHER day so your man can "save up". I was pregnant the very first time i did that. I am not pregnant with the second baby. Got pregnant the first try!!!!!! Doing this....

If he is using a condom - you should be fine whenever.
But, just to be safe, the best time NOT to have sex is about 10 - 14 days after the FIRST day of your period. So, you could have sex on the few days before your period, during your period, and right after your period.
