I'm 26, a full time college student and a part time pre-k teacher. I need to make some extra money so I can get decent presents for my brothers and my longtime love/new husband. Also traveling to see family during the holidays gets expensive. Any ideas of seasonal jobs or other odd jobs?

Since you are a pre-K teacher, you must like kids. Make a flyer and take it to the school where you work (with their permission) offering your services to watch the children in November & early December so that they can go shopping.

You may also want to make your services available wrapping presents for people (cost per present maybe) or tutoring at the local elementary or middle school.

First, just keep in mind as we all should that getting presents, as you said decent presents for your brothers, when money is tight, you need to give them something that no one else can; how about a picture of you and your new husband? We spend so much time shopping for the right gift when the ideas are really all about the person giving them and not the items advertised in the stores. Sorry retailers. With that said, how about advertising to be someone's personal shopper. There are many people who are not able either physically or don't have the time to shop for the upcoming holidays. Most people would love to have someone take their lists, do the shopping and would not mind paying for that kind of service. My Aunt had a college student do her shopping for the food and gifts every Thanksgiving and Christmas, plus she had her wrap all the gifts at her home and was thrilled to pay her for those services since it allowed my Aunt to focus on her entertaining and not worrying about the hassle of fighting the stores. Many employers can not afford to offer full time so look around for part time jobs that are seasonal. Florist shops and mail order companies are always in need of seasonal people to help with the rush. When you are looking for some extra money going into the holiday seasons, think of who really has their business pick up during these times and then offer your services. You are doing them and yourself a huge favor during this busy season. Good luck.

Get a commission sales job at a local mall. However, retailers are scared this year, so jobs may be harder to find. So, start looking now.

Otherwise sell stuff on ebay. If you have not used it for a year, or worn it in a year, it is a candidate for selling.

Many of the retail stores are hiring for seasonal help. Otherwise I don't know of any odd jobs.
