When I go to a rest. with a salad bar, I usually make a salad in this order:

Lettuce, Broccoli, tomatoes, diced eggs, baby spinach leaves (if any), diced ham, sunflower seed kernels, ranch salad dressing or italian, croutons, and cheese.

That way, I get something from every food group and usually when I get a salad, then when I go to the next items, like the meats & ect, I'm not really hungry anymore. Get items that you know you are going to eat and not new things that could taste yuck...lol. Before you start to put things on your plate, check out the salad bar first. That way you know exactly what you want.

Put some engineering into it, Sparky. Densest and most expensive stuff on bottom, then work your way up. Screw leaves...your job is to get an entree's worth of calories out of this.

If you use enough bacon bits and glue them together with ranch dressing, you can rebuild the pig from whence they came.

Bon appetit!
