The difference between the white gold and sterling silver isn't readily visible. I'd go with gold over silver. Don't know about mms. I'd say ask the jeweler what guys usually get. I think you can just tell by looking.

Hard to know, the only person I have ever seen look good in a gold chain is Big Papi. Italians have seen to outgrow this bad look.
