In the 80s, I loved Detroit and used to work there everyday and hang out there on the weekends. Now, even though my office is still there, I work from home and travel to the city less than once a month. It's changed a lot. I'm not afraid of dying there, but being in Detroit nowadays definitely increases your chances. I remember how it used to be, and I miss it a lot.

No, and thats pretty much the lamiest myth possible. Detroit is like every other city. You can die anywhere, anytime even in the suburbs. Detroit is safer in some places rather than other. But just don't go around those places, just like you would avoid the bad places in LA, Chicago, and NYC, same as Detroit.

K. It appears some retards took this question too literally. Yeah, there are bad parts of Detroit - I grew up there - but there are some nice places too. You just have to use common sense and stay out of the bad areas.....ya know?
