System freezes or doesn't boot at all. But this could be caused by other things as well. If you have more than one memory chip - try removing one, and see what happens.

PC will not boot, or just beeps when you turn it on
If it boots, it will suddenly lock up and refuse to do anything - you have to power it off.
Computer will suddenly without warning reboot itself

Programs will shut down. computer won't boot up is the most obivious. Programs won't run.
