It's difficult to answer fully without knowing which country and culture you are in; however, at 20 you really are an adult.

If you are financially dependent on your parents, then staying with your girlfriend may lead to a great deal of hardship ... but if you love each other then you will have to be prepared to face that hardship, even if it means breaking form your parents - you would not be the first or last gay person who has had to do that.

I can't give you an answer, no-one but you can make your decisions. All I can tell you is that while it seems like the end of the world now, things can and will get better.

Maybe you should go abroad (for where have your parents got you a visa?) ... it may mean separating from your girl for a while, but also allows you to make the first step in breaking away from the control of your parents.

Ignore motochic ... judging by this and other answers she has given in this section, she clearly has serious unresolved issues of her own.

Be strong, and be true to yourself.

Good luck.

moto chic... justy one thing? why are you on the LBGT site answering questions?

OK For you. It sounds like your parents are deeply conservative, hence a 20year old dependancy. and them soundsing like they are ruling your life? is this crush/love becasue they suffocate you and you have met someone who understands you? or is it a case or lust and attraction.

If its the latter and shes serious about you go live with her. but be prepared to face the fact that you might be ostracised from your parents. because hunny it sounds like they are not going to accept it. its very drastic what they are proposing!!! so really. You'll have to think. If it was me speaking from experience of living a lie. Then i'm afraid if me and this same sex person were serious then i'd go for them. At the end of the day they could eb making the same sacrifice as you.

If you're entirely dependent financially on your parents, you really don't have a choice right now. Of course, you could always get a job and support yourself then you could do what you want, but that would take time. Sending you away is a bit drastic; perhaps you could reason with your mom...worth a try.

don't be torn...you are not being fair to your girlfriend nor yourself.Your mom is acting childish-she should act like a Mom and love you unconditionally(same for your Dad),they don't have to feel your pain or heartache so why should they care?Your girlfriend has gotten the shaft-she DOES have to feel your pain and heartache as well as her own.Be a woman-if your parents dont like you and disown you because of it or no longer support you financially then it's time for you to grow up anyhow.Never give up your love-you will regret it forever and your parents WILL eventually come around-if you ditch your girl SHE may never be yours again.

Your parents are more important. You need to respect them. They have done everything for you and are now trying to help you. Why would you want to lose that over some sick lesbian fantasy? Go on the trip and meet a nice boy. Everyone will be happier all around.

Sit down and talk to your mom about it.
