the Monitor i ave hooked to my xbox360 is 17'' with 1024x768 . I wanna know if i buy a 20'' one with 1680x1050, how big would the difference be.

1024*768 is considered fairly low resolution for a computer screen lately. As you're hooking up an xbox or ps3 there is no issue of graphics processing power so 1680*1050 would be coonsiderably better. Not only that i strongly suspect it would be a widescreen monitor, so games are easier to play and arguably better for your eyes as you are using a more natural wider view. A more cinematic experience.
I have a 22" monitor with 1680*1050 and it does 720p or 1080 i resolutions which i find to be very good for my xbox360. (If it's also for PC gaming you need a powerful graphics card to run games at 1680*1050, trust me)

It is going to be a little taller (about .4 inches or 4%) and a lot wider (about 3.4 inches or 25%)

It will have a lot more detail as you have 2.25 times the resolution.

bigger the monitor, more details will you get. but... also more power you'll need.
