Use a standard "dry wipe" marker - write over top of the permanent marker, then quickly wipe both off. The solvent on the dry wipe has (at least for me) been enough to help lift the permanent marker.
This has worked for me with "Sharpie" permanent markers & and "Expo" brand dry-erase markers. Suggest you try a small dot to see if it works for you.
Best of luck!

So easy to get it clean...you will laugh!
Know a smoker? You need their ash....hey! i said a-s-H lol
take a paper napkin and dip it into the cig. ash..rub it across the board...the permamant marker will be removed, leaving dirty black streaks...don't panic! ANY cleaner ( I use plain old windex) will now clean the streaks...WA-LA! A brand new clean reusable white board!
I have No clue why this works..a lady at my church taught it to me...my wife and I are youth leaders, and need many boards, that often get TRASHED...now we get them before garbagemen for free, and rehab them!

Methylated spirits, (denatured alcohol), under no circumstances use a cream cleaner or similar, it is abrasive.
