My wife is pregnant since the 1st of sept (last menstruation). No particular problems. She need to stay in Instambul for 3 days, in a Hotel for a convention.

I would like to know if there are risks with the fly from Milan to Istambul (max 2h) and if the stress could be dangerous after the prenatal CVS (Chorionic villus sampling). Her ginecologist says "I don't believe so" but for me is not enough... :)

Thanks

I think the 5 days of rest inbetween the test and her flight should be fine for her and the baby. Your doctor would tell her if she should not fly. Because it is not a long flight and she is not heavily pregnant, I don't believe it would pose a risk. Make sure she gets up and walks around for a while during the flight to avoid Deep Vein Thrombosis (highly unlikely anyway).

To have peace of mind, research some close hospitals or doctors offices (get your gynocologist to recommend someone over there) should she be concerned about anything while she is away. This is only a precaution but will put both of you at ease knowing where medical care is available should she need it.

Best of luck and congratulations!!

Hi,
They say after a CVS you have around two percent higher chance of miscarriage. I recently had a CVS done, and two days after the test I had horrible cramps and pains. I did not have a miscarriage and did go to the hospital. But each individual is different. It really depends on you and your wife, and how important the convention is. All the best.
