I am thinking of naming my soon to be daughter Brittany. (britt-an-ee) not (brit-nee)
What do you think of it and what would be good as a middle name?
She has a brother already called Lachlan.
Please help and i have a feeling she is a twin, so two names could be helpful?
any other suggestions welcome = ]

Lachlan is a fabulous name. IMHO, Brittany doesn't quite hold up to her brother's sophisticated moniker.

It's not just about Ms. Spears, either. It's that, troubled pop princesses aside, Brittany is stuck back in the 80s with her girlfriends Courtney and Tiffany.

You might consider Britt or Britain, or my personal favorite, the similar sounding but unrelated Bryony. (BRY-oh-nee). It's a botanical name, from the Greek.

I think Lachlan and Bryony's sister would be Tamsin, Charity, Wynne, Fiona or Maren. And their brother would be Duncan, Graham, Forrest, Finn or Gareth.

As for Bryony's middle name? Bryony Grace, Bryony Kess, Bryony Elyse, Bryony Katrin, Bryony Lakin, Bryony Faith.

I agree that Brittany is a name stuck back in the 80s and that most people will pronounce it Brit-ney. My friend's little girl is Brittany and she is forever correcting people saying that it is Britt-a-ny. I agree with her but people do what they are in the habit of doing.

Having said that, I do know a lot of Brittanys and their middle names off the top of my head are Kay, Dawn (at least two or three), and Debra, which all sound OK with Brittany.

Some other options (either to replace your first choice or as a twin name) are Brigitta, Bridget, and Briony/Bryony. There is also Brianna and all its variations, although I hesitate to say it as it is also very popular.

IMHO Brittany is a strong enough name to be Lachlan's sister.

Good luck with your baby!

Brittany's a fine name (:
I know 2 girls named Brittany. One's Brittany Laine and the other's Brittany Rose. You might also try Brittany Grace.

You can't have an awesome name like Lachlan with a name like Brittany... they do not go together at all! In general, the name Brittany is old and outdated anymore. Look for something as good as Lachlan.

Brittany not very unusal as Lachlan. Also, you may pronounce it different, but she will be called Brit-nee regardless because that's what people are used to hearing.

What about Lachlan and Lacee'

No offense but there are so many Brittany's out there. Give your baby a unique name, one she can be proud to call her own. I love Lachlan though. If you want to stick with B names then some helpful choices are Briony, Bronwen, Bridgid, Brenna, Bianca, Bethany, Belle, Bella, Brielle, or Barrie. Good Luck!

I think that Brittany is too much of a cutesy name. Great when she is a little kid but when she's grown up..not so great.
Lachlan is such a strong name, why choose such a 'weak' name in comparison?

And the whole Brittney Spears thing doesn't help the situation either. As much as it might seem irrelevant, as soon as people hear that name they will associate it.

well Brittany is a nice name, but people probably wont call her Britt an y because it is not a common pronunciation and it is a common spelling for the real pronunciation. That is the only problem I forsee with the pronunciation you want...

Brittany is ok but so common. Lachlan is such a great, original name, Brittany just doesn't seem to fit. You need a Piper or Lennon or something. Not trying to make you feel bad, that's just my thoughts.
