I am thinking of buying a refurbed Dell Vostro 400. Looks a pretty nifty machine. People are warning me that Dell PCs are notoriously hard to upgrade at a later date because of their build, and that I'd have to send the pc back to change components at a later date. Is this true? Has anyone else had this issue, or is it a myth? Cheers. K

Dell desktops and towers are some of the EASIEST computers to update yourself. They come with all generic components, so they are easy to find replacement parts for. And are very well laid out so that you have easy access to fix or replace anything.

I support a site with 1400 computers, a mixture of Dell, HP, Compaq and a handful of others. I will take the Dell everytime for a PC to work on.
