it is better to someone who will go to the same ball. ask what will be the formality of the ball.

if you had to wear a dress, keep it simple and dark (usully black) then pair it with a diamond / silver jewerly, or pearls.

if you had to wear slocks, pair it with heels, dark colored blouse and diamon/silver/pearl jewerly or a brooch that could match your pretty blouse.

have fun. don't worry to try other clothes you would like. just keep it in mind that you should be comfortable of what you will wear.

The word Ball is the clue here. The Marine Corps Ball is a VERY formal dance, so yes, dressing like you would for a prom is a good way to think of it. Go all out, have your hair and nails done, find a beautiful gown and have fun!

You would do well to dress formally. Marines seem to take
these, dances quite seriously. Be Delicious. Have a grand time.

i personally have never gone to anything like that, but my best friend went to one (it was a school thing like the army thing they have in Hollywood high) but anyway. she just wore a dress that she found in the dresses part of Macy's and wore high heels like 2 inch. and when she would dance she changed in to some comfy flats that she keep in her bag. her dress was not really that formal but it was? so i say go to Macy's and go the the formal dresses and chose. sorry that was bad. it is like going to prom!
