KOREANS INVADE THE PHILIPPINES!!!

Koreans are nowadays taking Philippines seriously, and they come in masse. Their presence provide economic and social benefits to the Philippines in general (not just hotels and restaurants in Baguio). They come as tourists (increased revenues), as road contractors (better quality of roads), as students (increased enrollments and better socialization) and God knows what else they come for.

Come to think of it, even the residents of our little city have finally behold the flawless beauties of Korean lasses parading in our narrow streets. Whether they are stinking or not, I have no way of figuring out. Are they coming to see if major TV companies mangled the translations of Korean soap operas? Or are they coming to see how the pirated DVD copies of their movies and soap operas selling in the streets? Whatever their reason is, they are a sight to behold, always in groups, talking loudly to each other, in a language that they only them could understand.

Honestly, I am not bothered. In terms of effect on hotels and restaurants, I can only conclude that the effect is positive for business.

As they say, Live and let live.

They have come here for a reason. They also contribute something to the economy. They have been officially welcomed by the government. In fact, there are deliberate efforts by the government to entice them to come, especially the retirees.

Think for a moment. We should not discriminate, in the same way we would not want to be discriminated in other countries.

They are guests. They have also become my neighbors in Baguio. The few Koreans I have met in the neighborhood are ok. Yes, there will be some who could be rude. Just like there are some Pinoys who do not know how to behave well in their adopted lands.

Maybe I am just more tolerant than the rest. I guess it comes with age.

Huh? Do they have?

Our country houses different foreigners, from Asia to America, from the Middle East to Europe...all of 'em!

It's just that we are hospitable and friendly.

When our family went to Baguio last year, I also found out that Koreans in Baguio also increased in population. In fact, there is a Korean community near us here in our area in Quezon City.

I find them nice and so much into business. Just a comment, they look snobbish and irritable. Filipinos treat Koreans the same way as we treat other foreigners. The only effect I can say is that they help the business industry of hotels and restaurants here.

I hope by staying there, they will help fatten the pockets of our fellow pinoy hotel owners and businessmen. I think they are as welcome as any other foreigner in this country.

Maybe in baguio they might put up a Korea town just like chinatown in manila. Who knows?

Most of them looked down on us. They are belittling our capabilities. Most of the singkit really stench...believe me...they don't use deodorant and don't take showers in the morning. They too are lazy to brush their teeth. But they are flawless though.

Koreans look at the generous act of "tipping" as rude or insulting and they conveniently avoid the practice.
