I don't think that anyone really knows. Many countries were established around the same time periods, but a lot of history wasn't recorded, so we can only know from archaeological records, and records of those who came afterwards.

The answer to this question also depends on what you mean by "established." Do you mean established as in existed? Or do you mean established as in they formed a society of some kind? There are a lot of answers to these questions.

Scholars will probably always be debating these questions, but probably the most popular answer to, "What is the oldest civilization?" is Mesopotamia.

Mesopotamia (Geographically located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, largely corresponding to modern-day Iraq.)

Then there is Sumeria (or Sumer) which was actually a part of Mesopotamia, and is commonly believed to be the first civilization.

There are some great articles on these civilizations to be found online. See here for more:

Unfortunatly No! but Ethiopia as a civilized state can be traced back for 3000 years back. but as a country, only around 2000 years. i think the others answer your question as to who it is.

Do you mean the country which still exists today, in one unbroken succession since the time of it's foundation? I believe Thailand might have a claim here
