You can't really change your personality but you can change your behaviour.

You need to observe the impact of your behaviour on others - are you getting a postive or negative response? If not, then modify your behaviour to receive the response you are seeking. You may need to adopt different behaviours with different people depending on their personality.

This is the basis of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and you may find it interesting to read more about this subject. The basic is premise is that everyone has positive motives but it's just communication issues that stop them achieving their goals. By modifying behaviour you can develop understanding of others and hopefully achieve a win-win.

So stay who you are - be proud of who you are - but be prepared to adapt to others.

One way of doing this is by introspection and mindfulness. This means that you explore your true feelings and are aware of your treatment of other people. It is only through the internal study of who you are and how you act that you will improve upon the wonderful being you already are.
