since the surface of the intake manifold is flat where the hairline crack is i had an idea. (drill the ends of the crack so that the crack doesn't spread. Then take 2 screws through washers, through a fashioned metal plate, through a somewhat matching o ring and some silicone, and into the intake manifold). Does anyone think this will work? if not do you have any ideas. I don't really have the money to buy a new intake because of school.

Not worth trying to patch. You can buy a replacement manifold at most auto parts stores for less than $150. If you are reasonably mechanically inclined, you can change it yourself in about 2-3 hours. If not, you can take it to a shop and have it done for less than $300 if you buy the manifold. A footnote to this-- Ford vehicles in that era are well known for this problem. The replacement manifolds have a few design improvements to prevent future failures. Good luck and I hope this helps!!

All patches are like temporary band aids. Don't drill the crack! More damage. Some Jb weld should be a effective temporary fix. about $8
