Because when Darwin was alive he was searching for a way to have his name go down in history. He came up with this hair brain idea and actually did not think that anyone would ever buy it. He was shocked when they did! On his death bed he denounced evolution, and there is not a reputable scientist that stands behind this. If it was true, they would not have to file the jaw bones to make them fit, and alter the other parts to try to get them to look like evolution is real. No one with half a brain would ever believe this garbage. Only fools that don't understand science fall for this joke. The bible says that "Professing themselves wise, they become fools". This sounds just like anyone that would try to convince anyone that evolution is real. Fools! Silly Fools!

First off, humans did not evolve from apes. Humans and apes both evolved from a common ancestor; that common ancestor is now extinct, but some of its distant descendants are humans, and some of its descendants are apes.
It is not "known" that the 1st person on Earth was Adam. This is a fictional story from the Bible. If you want to agree with a literal interpretation of the bible, then that is your perrogative, but there is a vast amount of scienticic evidence that it is *not* literally true:
For example, analysis of the bible has placed the date of the creation of the earth (and, in fact, the entire universe) at around 6,000 years ago. If that is so, then how is it that the light from stars more distant than 6,000 light years away has reached earth? Why is it that a radio-dating analysis of the rocks in the earth gives an age of around 4.6 *billion* years for the earth, and an analysis of the age of the universe provides an age of around 13.7 billion years (predicted from, amongst other evidence, the observed rate of expansion of the universe)? Where did all the fossils older then 6,000 years come from? And how is it that there are trees in California (the Bristlecone Pine, dated by conventional ring-counting methods) that are up to 10,000 years old?
To answer the second part of your question: evolution takes a long time. The process of evolution only occurs between generations of organisms, so the longer the organism takes to reproduce, the longer it takes to evolve. Short-lived organisms (like fruitflies, mosquitoes, bacteria, and nematodes) have been observed to evolve within a human lifetime - hence the appearance of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, insecticide-resistant mosquitoes, and populations of drosophila that can no longer interbreed (observed speciation). Humans take decades to reproduce, and hence take much longer to evolve.

Edit (I've just seen your profile):
OK - I guess as a muslim, you won't agree with a literal interpretation of the bible, instead using the Qur'an.
I know Adam is mentioned in the Qur'an, but I have no idea how the creation-story is told therein. It is possible that analysis of the Qur'an (or even a statement within the Qur'an) gives a definitive date for the age of the earth.
However - I doubt it is "4.6 billion years ago", so the rest of my answer still applies.
Apologies for the assumption.
_______________________________________________
Edit (again):
Well, some quick Google-ing has revealed to me that the Qur'an makes no definitive statements as to the age of the Universe. Quotation from an Islamic scholar:
"The Holy Qur'an does not define the age of the universe in any way. Science so far is not able to tell exactly when the universe began. The Holy Qur'an had been introduced in a non-scientific age when people were not able to conceive the stretch of time into billions or millions of years. Had the Qur'an stated that the stars were originated billions of years ago, people may have rejected the whole concept of Islam. The Qur'an, therefore, wisely kept silent on this matter. To be true, you do not need to tell all of what you know of truth; you need only to refrain from misinforming the people. Thus, the door was kept open to any scientific theory, so the religious information will not clash with any scientific knowledge."
Obviously you would therefore have no problem with rocks, stars, and trees older than 6,000 years - so as a result, my answer to the first part of your question needs to change:
I still state that the creation of Adam story is fiction. However, the evidence for this is now more dependent on archaeological/paleoanthropological, and genetic evidence of human evolution. Human evolution is still a hotly-debated subject in evolutionary science, but there is more than sufficient evidence to show that we *did* evolve from ape-like ancestors.

humans did not evolve from apes. the theory is that humans and apes might share a common ancestor, or missing link. we have a lot of the same charateristics and our dna is very similar. i still believe there was an Adam and Eve! I even believe they were created by God, and who's to say that evolution wasn't God's design? So why could we not have evolved from a more primitive creature and then one day, either by mutation or will of God, the first humans were born.
Also the reason people don't change like your saying is because it takes millions of years for evolution to happen, especially for humans because we have a long lifespan. take a look at birds (who have a much shorter lifespan), there are so many different types around and they are always finding new species. The same thing with cats... there are lions, tigers, mountain lions, and even the domesticated kind. even the domestic pets we breed until we have weird looking purebreds that are on those funny dog and cat shows on tv. they are mutating... i believe at one point it was one species... otherwise how could they fit all the worlds creatures into Noah's ark?

The unbridled audacity so many of you have been showing is shocking. Do not denounce Darwin when you are so damned ignorant of his works. Darwin was not the only one to come up with the idea of natural selection - it was also arrived at by Wallace, independently. Wallace was more like you fools who try to rationalize god's purpose into science, but Darwin was a pure naturalist. You bastards don't know how hard he worked on his books, the ridiculous amounts of examples and efforts he put into each miniscule point.
Whether or not you agree with his ideas is inconsequential, but I have a beef with anybody who calls his work hair-brained, or mocks the insane amount of effort he put into his research by claiming he renounced his ideas.

There is no concrete proof that what happened First coz it goes beyond our imaginations and Knowledge base, The only thing we Human being are good at is manipulating. We gather some real facts and rearrange them in a order to convince our Hypothesis or Imaginations to achieve only one goal - To become famous !
We Just overlook the other aspects of life, the examples ( In Abundance) around us from which we can gather a lot of informations to answer our mysterious questions. Can some one just answer a simple question, What came first A Hen or an Egg ? I think this question will support all the above.
There is a limitation to our knowledge, Here comes the Divine interception ( The Super Being ), We all call Him by different names "God", "Allah", "Almighty", and many. Someone had to create this worldly things they cant come of their own. I hope agree with me.
I think now you had the answer. " Who made Ape and Human" .

It is not "known" that the first person on Earth was Adam. It is merely suggested by religious authorities. There is no scientific evidence that such a person ever existed, and there is in fact a great deal of evidence that this is not the manner in which humanity arose.

People are evolving all the time its a slow gradual process- go to an old exhibition from 1500s 1600s and just in 500 years weve grown much taller on average- which is very quick in evolutionary terms

I think the evolution may be going on on the inside. An evolution of the psyche one may say. Physical evolution may still be going on very slowly, but the evolution of consciousness is far faster, you can see it round you every day. Some folk eager to help and assist in the going forward of humanity and some still butchering their fellows and stuck in the psychological stone age.
