No, not really! But using common sense is important. First, don't get really drunk because people will take advantage of you in that situation, especially when they see foreigners. At night time stay in well lite areas. Travel in groups or pairs. Be aware of what's going on around you. Obey the laws and be tolerant of others. It's pretty much the same rules for other cities too. If you follow these guidelines you shouldn't have any problems. I've been to Mexico and Tijuana many times and I follow these basic rules and the most that has ever happened to me is a driving ticket which I was able to handle on the spot. Don't mess with drugs in Mexico. It's a serious matter and you could end up in a Mexican jail which is not a nice place at all. In Mexico you are presumed guilty until proven you are innocent. The burden is upon you to prove your innocence which is not always an easy thing to do. Just a word of caution here. Remember that killing an animal with your vehicle is a serious matter in Mexico. Just don't get caught doing this deed. Mexico can be real fun and adventurous if you stay smart.

i live in southern california. it was safer years ago. but now due to drug cartels, gorilla's, and the federally, it is shaky. the targets are young kids in nice cars, and clothes. young under age u.s.a. drinkers over partying at clubs etc. they call your parents, ask for a butt load of cash to release you from their jails. see these websites below for more information. then see if it is worth it to you.

YOu have to have common sence to stay out of trouble in Mexico. If your going there and plan to party most likely you will run into dangerous things. Just do you research, so that way you know where you are trying to go and what you are trying to do. USE your brain

watch out for Mexico city!!it happens there a lot.yes it can happen in all places in Mexico because of los zetas an extremist group that is rapidly growing in Mexico.they have killed three singers that i know so far and the police don't mess with them cause they are powerful and have a powerful drug lord backing them.but my mom just vacationed in Mexico back in April and everything was fine for her.have fun on your vacation if you decide to go.

yeah, people can get into trouble, but just be smart. Don't get drunk and wonder alone. Keep in mind, though that if you are driving down there, many car insurance agencies will NOT cover you once you cross the border.
