They didn't pick it up but it has been speculated that the whole thing was Robin's dream. She had fallen asleep in the on call room and that was what she dreamt. It was all about her fears and dreams.

Night Shift was a 13 part nighttime GH spinoff "mini-series" that they tried out to see how it would fare in the ratings. Rumor had it that if it did well in the ratings, they might try to do another set of episodes in the future. However, there were also rumors of that possibly not happening because the taping schedule for the GH stars, mainly those who portrayed Robin, Patrick, and Jason were being run ragged by the demanding taping schedule of both shows together.
As for the final shot of Night Shift when Robin saw her own, dead self, they tied it in with GH briefly about a week ago. She was talking to Dr. Lee and explaining that ever since she realized that she wanted to have a baby, she's become very aware of her own mortality, and sometimes has visions of her own, dead self. On Night Shift, her vision came when she was looking at a patient that was brought to the ER on a gurney. On GH, the same thing happened with another patient.

Night Shift was originally only slated for 13 episodes, but they ended on a cliffhanger because they thought it was going to be renewed. However, the ratings tanked and it got cancelled, so they brought all the unresolved storylines and extraneous characters over to GH. The ending of Night Shift makes no sense to anyone, and neither do the new NS/GH storyline blendings, so don't worry that you're missing something.

I think it's true. Night Shift was originally only meant to last for 13 weeks to draw in new and younger viewers to GH. As for Robin, the ending was kinda strange. Maybe that is how she sees herself dying.

Night Shift was only to fill up some time in the summer and to get people more interested in GH. Robin is full of drama and she's probably just trying to get Patrick's attention. I do like them together, though.

Yes it's true. But they were going to tie in some of what happened on the night shift with the day. Does anyone know if the mysterious Barret (thinking Brenda)will be appearing on GH?

I personally didn't think Night Shift was that great..kinda corny, even for a soap opera, so I won't lose any sleep if it doesn't come back!
