Hi! I would like to buy a few Star Trek hobby kits (USS Enterprise 1701 & 1701-A). I am quite a beginner, so I would prefer to start on cheaper (if less accurate) models to get the feel of it, then progress on. Is there a website or store that sells model kits at a reasonable price (since I will probably spoilt the first few)?

I don't mind getting "old" kits eg AMT/ERTL kits although I prefer not to buy over Ebay as I have no experience with it.

Thanks!

As best as I recall (and have researched)... AMT/ERTL and Polar Lights were the only companies licensed to produce Starfleet vessels...

Your BEST bet is to go to a good SMALL hobby shop and check their shelves... and then their catalog. A good hobby-shop will be HAPPY to order you the models you need.

Here are two sites dedicated to Star-Trek stuff:
http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/store/news/article/11192.html
http://www.starfleet-models.com/Models/Company/Starcrafts/Default.htm

Since you say you're a beginner... I'd avoid resin kits to start.

Good Luck, and ummmm... "Live Long and Prosper"
