Completely ignore them.

Why does it bother you so much?

Intelligent people can recognize a good answer, and some people are just out to TRY to make you feel bad ... so just ignore them, especially if YOU KNOW you've given an honest, well-considered answer.

Don't waste your mental energy on people who don't matter!

I don't give very many "thumbs down" unless I can tell it's a mean-spirited answer. I give LOTS of "thumbs up" for good or witty answers. And then there are many times, that I just don't make a judgment call, AT ALL. Like that old saying goes: "If you don't have anything good to say .... keep your mouth shut!" ;-)

What's even worse is receiving a violation notice because you are a fan of the wrong team. I answered a question in football(which is mostly trash talk anyway) and made a remark about patriot fans, no obscenity or threats, and got a violation notice. It seemed to prove my point about classless fans from a certain city in the New England area.

So in answer to your question, there is nothing you can do about idiots. If you dont agree with them, you deserve a thumbs down or violation no matter whther you are right or wrong(at least thats the way YA! sees it). There are just a lot of classless people who can dish it out but cant take it. So enjoy the thumbs down with the knowledge that at least you are not a moron like the one that gave you the thumb.

I 've been annoyed by the evil, "rater haters" too ! Sometimes, they give EVERYBODY a thumbs-down, and with wonderful answers. When I see this happening, I give everyone a thumbs-up to even it out. Also, some people do it thinking it will give their answer a better chance at best answer.

I write back something cheeky to my thumb-downing troll stalkers like:

I haven't been saying that as much though because it doesn't bother me as much as it used too.

I let it go, and never stress about something I cannot change.
