It is currently a gray Mercedes Benz CLK ... I would however like to give it a pearlescent white with a hint of purple paint job ... done with the best quality about how much may this cost.
Also wondering is it more difficult to paint a black car white than it is a gray one or it does not matter.

Pearl paint jobs are what's known as "three-stage' paint in the business...that is they have three coats of paint, a base coat, a second coat and a clear coat versus the standard "two-stage" base coat/clear coat. Most pearl or flip-flop paint jobs run around 3-4000.00 for a good quality job excluding body work for dents, scratches and rust. Stay away from places like Maaco or Earl Schieb...their bread and butter is to offer cheap, quickie paint jobs with little attention to detail and they mainly use single stage paint. Color change paint jobs are more involved than a repaint as all the visible parts of the car like door jambs, cowl, underhood and inside trunk have to be painted as well. Painting a black car may take more primer coats than a grey one to switch to a white color.

There will probably be a variance in price depending on where you go, but I would walk in expecting to pay no less than $1500, 1500 being the bare minimum. A good custom paint job like that can cost up to $10000 depending on what all goes into it. I would suggest calling up places like Maaco * any custom paint places in your area & asking for an estimate.

the cost would be different to estimate as it varies from brand of paint to paint shop. It would take an extra layer of paint to achieve this unlike the usual paint. you could go to your nearest paintshop and ask for an estimate of the paint itself. Ask for a white color added with purple pearlescent. It would not matter if its a black car or a gray car to be painted white since this is a total change in color, the previous color would be scraped off first before applying the new one.
