I didn't see anything on the website about dressing nicely. Will they tell you to go home if you're not dressed formally?

They'll no doubt take your money anyway! When you have the price of admission and you're half-way clothed in ripped Levis and holy tennis shoes with no socks they'll smile and seat you. (Nobody can see you from the waist down while you're chomping anyway!)
If a very tipsy ill mannered movie or TV star showed up they wouldn't serve them?
Most people might expect 'casual elegance' but Ruth's Chris ain't so picky! Nomore!

I go by there everytime i go to the dentist, on van ness. It looks very formal i always see old people standing out side chit chatting, and yea they are dressed formal. But i think its one of those places where they wont say nothing as long as you got the bling bling know what i mean.

nvm i just read answers to the same question but from a different person, they said you have to be formal!

its not a "formal" place. just no flip flops and board shorts so to speak. a collared shirt, like a polo. khaki pants. for the ladies, I wouldnt wear jeans and a tshirt. i would wear pants, and a nice top with floats or a short pump if you prefer.
