Not because an independent can win, of course, but to make a statement to the Republican party. Otherwise this may not be the last time that neither candidate represents us nearly at all.

As a staunch conservative, the two issues that concern me most are the Iraq War (staying there and finishing the job) and abortion (repealing Roe v. Wade, for starters). Clinton is against me on both of these. Giuliani is against me on one. I shouldn't have to vote for the lesser of two evils -- not when abortion is (or has been) one of the flaghead issues of the GOP. Besides, with two bad candidates running, it might be better to let the Democrat win, and poison the public against them rather than us.

Note to Erika:
I'm talking about the general elections, not the primaries. I'm voting for John McCain in the primaries.

I'll admit, though: Clinton scares me so badly that I'll still probably vote for Giuliani, if it comes down to it (and it's a close race).

The one thing I have against the Repulblican party whom I too am a staunch supporter... is the stance on abortion. I do wish they would get back to more of the core values of the party which is a better economy for all! And get away from the religious aspects of things...

Myself, It doesn't bother me, who someone is married to or if they have had an abortion... Mind you it shouldn't be used for birth control, however if something happens and the baby won't be cared for, I don't see anything wrong with it.

As a republican it's really important to know what it takes to keep this country going forward, which the Democrats don't want to do... You know it, I know it.... Everyone knows exactally what's going to happen as soon as Hillary gets elected, America will be once again on a slippery slope going down!

Trust me, a vote for a third party canidate this coming election is a vote for Hillary, which everyone knows would be a horrid horrid thing to have happen!

I would rather vote for a Libertarian and let the Democrats win, than have a pseudo-conservative as president.
The Libertarian Party was at its peak when Clinton was in office.
The Republicans need to be split, let the "liberals" be with the communists in the Democratic party, and make the rest decide if they support limited government and personal freedom or not.

I agree with you. I don't support the war in Iraq, but I agree that finishing or at least cleaning up our mess there is good policy. I also believe in stopping Roe v. Wade - when even Roe admits that this decision was a mistake, you know it's time to throw your weight behind this one.

I would probably vote Republican if Hillary wins. I am also favouring McCain, but I think he's made it clear twice now that he has no idea how to run a campaign.

And it's nice to see that another loser Ron Paul cultist has made it here. Don't you lot ever take a break and return to the mothership? Wholly kao.

think of approximately it...whilst the South Carolina primaries comes around. Giuliani won't run from his checklist of being professional determination, professional gun administration, professional civil rights and he does not hate the gays. His difficult stance on crime and management on 911 won't win over those GOP negatives. He does not have a prayer except the conservatives will compromise themselves...and that they don't have a sturdy checklist on compromise.

I would still vote for Giuliani. I disagree with him on some issues but I would rather get 80% of what I want rather that 100% of what I do not want.

A vote for an Independant would be worse than trowing it away. Because it would split the Republican vote it would be a vote for Hillary.

Not at all. I'm voting for Ron Paul, the man that actually wants to restore the constitution and give us our rights back. The government has taken our rights away little by little without us even noticing what they were doing. This country isn't as free as we would like to think. I wish that someone with some balls would finally win and make a positive change in this country. Go Ron Paul!!!!!

no, thats ridiculous and EXACTLY what the liberal wingnuts want, a split in the party. i lived nyc at 911 and guliani is perfectly capable of doing the job. the sad part about it is, though, compared to hillary, a trained monkey is as well.

Voting independent is just throwing your vote away. Like you said, "not like an independent can win."
