A "fib" is different than a "lie" in regards to intent. A "lie" is an out and out attempt to cover up a truth. A "fib" is generally used to "side-step" the truth in order to spare another's feelings, or to "keep the peace".

The difference between a lie and a fib...????

Lying is not a good policy...one can paint him/herself into a corner when doing that. Sometimes there are very, very good reasons where lying is due to a life and death situation, though.

A white lie, to save someone's feelings, I.E. not telling her she's fat ect.
