Depends on whether or not you choose to use a factory distributor, or an aftermarket and whether or not its a new distributor or a remanufactured one.

A remanufactured aftermarket distributor is about $300 US; a new aftermarket is about $350 US at Autozone.com

a new factory distributor is probably twice the aftermarket price.

hope that answers your question

RE:
how much is a distributor for 98 honda civic ex?

I paid $280 for a new distributor and $22 for a distributor cap from my local auto parts store for my 98 Honda Civic Ex

The autoshop would have charged me $568 for a new distributor and labor and additional $122 for the distributor cap and labor.

Ok, from what you have said it sounds like the throw-out bearing maybe bad; although it could be your slave cyl - although without 'hanging' in gears (while shifting) I wouldn't think it was. The throw out bearing is under a semi-no-load when the clutch is not pushed in, when you push it in it goes under load and they normally stop making noise then / however that will change where it will make more noise when you push it in (this is normally right before they go out) as a word of advice, get it fixed - if it goes out there is a possiblity that it could damage a LOT of things by allowing the fork to get into the clutch splines. ALSO - the bearing replacement and clutch replacement in labor is only about 15 minutes in difference / pay the money and get the clutch and presure plate done while you are in there - it is only parts cost.
