It has been said that the thing in the King's chamber was a coffer not a sarcophagus. Most egyptologists would say it was not a tomb, because it did not resemble tombs found elsewhere in Egypt.

According to some reports I have read, they are believed to be tombs by most people, but there were no recordings of the pyramids being built in hieroglyphics, and there was also no coffin found in the large pyramid. And most tombs were underground.
Here is something from this article:
"
Much has been made of the fact that of all the pyramids of Egypt that have ever been explored, never once has the mummy of a pharaoh been found within."

Here is a video from Youtube about the Pyramids of Giza, which was probably built for some other purpose other than as a tomb.
