little compared to the benifit. liberals are too easy consumed with regaining power and not considering the pitfalls of electing people so steeped in criminal activity to the white house. again, this reinforces the idea that liberals have no shame, none whatsoever.

Read David Shipper's book "Sold Out" He is the Chicago Liberal lawyer that represented the House managers. They did not want to impeach for lying to the Grand Jury. They wanted to impeach Clinton and Gore for immigration law felonies. He documents it in his book. They had a secure evidence room that the members of Congress could view the evidence. Only one member went in and looked at the evidence. Rep. Mary Bono. It was a done deal before it ever got to the Senate.
Here's a little extra. Libby got the ax, a trial and convicted for allegedly lying to Federal investigators. The Special Prosecutor that investigated White Water stated in his report to Congress "Hillery Clinton was less than truthful to the Federal investigators" Where was the outrage from Congress that was heaped on Libby. Double Standards. It is in the Congressional Record.

Way too much to be impeached over lame sex scandal, that was set up by the right wing conservatives, determined to bring Clinton down any way they could, because he did what ANY MAN in the exact same situation would have done, and lied. "Oh no, the President lied about something we had no business knowing in the first place, whatever will I tell my unborn grandchildren?" Come on, get real for God's sake.
The whole Clinton conspiracy by the right wing, was the single biggest waste of tax dollars next to the Iraq war, and it accomplished absolutely nothing in the minds of those of us who are smart enough to see a smear campaign coming a mile away.
I'm sorry, but do you all REALLY think George Bush, or Dick Cheney would have just jumped right out there and been honest? I don't think so, because that would ruin their little "family values" Christian appearance. God forbid.
It's time for people in the Country to get serious, act like adults, and talk like adults. All of this underhanded game playing is such a waste of time, money, and effort. Why can't we get to the REAL issues??????????

I heard it was 36 million. WHy don't people ask how much Nixons impeachment cost. I think it cost us the freedom of South Vietnam.
To be honest , we can't look at the cost of justice in this manner. We need to look at it in the long term. We must make a statement to the public, that even the President is not above the law. THe President has unusual resources to cover up his crime, so there fore going after him would be unusually resource intensive. Clintons case now makes a strong statemetn, that his form of Sexual harresment is unacceptable and perjury is unacceptable.

More than they would've if Ken Starr hadn't had a closed door meeting with the Republican leadership four months before getting a hummer from Monica. Without that meeting the Whitewater witchhunt would've died when Ken Starr quit to head Pepperdine law, but since the meeting DID take place Starr didn't leave.
Still, it was a lot less than we've had to pay to get rid of "the guy that, you know, tried to kill my dad."

Not as much as the Republican witch hunters spent nosing around after him and Hillary for six long years - that bill was over $70 million. And they came up with nothing, nada, not even an indictment for their efforts. Talk about incompetence and a waste of government money.

Mel - he was acquitted. It's a bit much to ask someone to pay for a grubby politically motivated witch hunt against him when he is found not guilty.
According to this source 1.2 million dollars
http://www.morningsun.net/stories/041699/usw_0416990008.shtml
But the witch hunt in total cost about 80 million or nearly double what was spent on the iran contra investigations and prosecutions - and they actually did break the law!
