It depends on the fish that you using it on. Some of the scaleless fish, like loaches, don't take kindly to CopperSafe. There are many ich treatments out there, I particularly like Rid-Ich made by Kordon, that's just because I have used it with great success. Make sure you check out the product you plan on using and make sure it's ok with the fish you have.

Copper tends to be hard on fish and inverts. To really use copper effectively, you should buy a copper test kit and measure the concentration actually in the water - it has a tendency to bind with organics in the tank (at least free copper does this, the copper in the coppersafe is supposedly already bound to other compounds to prevent this).

Malachite green and formalin (combined) are what is considered the most effective medication. That's what's in Rid-Ich mentioned above, or Quick Cure, which is the medication that I use. You can also use aquarium salt. Either is made even more effective by increasing the tank temperature.

I find the best treatment by far is prevention, by keeping the water quality as close to optimum, and as stable, as possible.
Would you drink the water from your aquarium? The fish live in it 24/7. Hope this helps.
