I DON'T THINK ALAN JACKSON WAS TRYING TO RE-DO IT OR DO IT BETTER OR NOTHING LIKE THAT..HE WAS JUST PAYING TRIBUTE TO SOME OF HIS MENTORS! WAS'NT THE ALBUM CALLED "UNDER THE INFLUENCE"? WELL THAT SAY'S IT ALL RIGHT THERE..I LOVE JIM ED'S CLASSIC AND NO ONE..NO ONE CAN TOUCH THAT!!!!

Whoever thumbed down Jim Ed Brown doesn't know their country music very well. That has always been one of my favorite songs ever. I didn't even know Allan Jackson had a version of it, but I hope I NEVER hear it. It would only serve to muddle my mind as to what Jim Ed's original is.

Well since I haven't had a chance to hear the other versions, I can't say much. But I kinda like Alan Jackson's version. It kinda reminds me of what some of the oldies are like..
I'm with okie fan, I think Jackson was just trying to do a tribute with that & a few others that he's done, like the "Who's Cheatin' Who" song.
