Where does your husband work? He may beable to put in a request for a personal leave of absence, if he has that option and get a doctors note, if needed, from the facility he will be attending. But usually if you need to take personal time, you dont have to let them know the circumstances. Tell him to check with human resources and see what his options are for taking leave. If he has accumulated time off, he could use that, but i think most jobs, especially for health reasons, will allow you to take a reasonable amount of time off and still keep your job.

Generally, if a company provides coverage for rehab, they are acknowledging that it's something for which employees may need to be treated. Also, employees who voluntarily admit a problem and go to rehab are more likely to be seen favorably. It is considered an illness.
There are some areas such as areospace, or anyone having government contracts, where it may look upon it less favorably. It might be seen as something over which someone could potentially be blackmailed. In that case, the person would be a security risk.

It might depend on company policy. My company handbook says that if an employee has a problem and needs to go to rehab, they will support their decision and keep their job open for them. Obviously this is because they want to encourage people to get and stay sober. But other companies might not be as thoughtful.
If he tells them that he needs medical treatment and will take a month off work, they should let him do that, hopefully. He may not have to tell them what kind of medical treatment it is.

Addiction is considered a disability, and in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, he couldn't legally be fired for going to rehab. What he will need to do is have a doctor sign off that he is an addict, and that he needs to go to rehab. He should then speak to his supervisors about taking a leave of absense.

It would depend on his companies policy. However more and more companies are willing to give a person one chance at getting their life together. He needs to bring it to management. If it is union then I would guess there is something in the contract that covers it. Thing is before he goes and does it he needs to talk to human resources or management. They may keep his job open even if they have no policy covering it as long as he is a good employee. You will never know unless you ask.

yes they can, drug useage would be grounds for firing and he is admitting to that. Rehab is not a protected group in the us. They can fire him for anything other than, sex, religion, age, race.

If he is covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, they cannot fire him, but he does need to claim FMLA beforehand, not retroactively. http://www.opm.gov/oca/leave/HTML/fmlaregs.htm

Probably unless there is a policy otherwise.
Doesn't mean they will though just because they can.

he needs to claim disability with his doctor.
ADA in theory will prevent job loss, but prepare yourself anyway.
