I hate shopping the day after thanksgiving-it's just too early for me to "get up and get moving." I also hate shopping after work. So as a new strategy this year I thought of going shopping early before thanksgiving so that I don't have much to do after thanksgiving is over with. Is this a good idea? or should I wait until it gets a little closer (about a week in advance instead of two) to thanksgiving?

I think it's a good strategy, and there are already some good deals to be had. If you're stressed out, you're more likely to spend more money on gifts you're not as enthused about than if you take your time and set your own pace. Also, by setting a deadline, you won't be tempted to buy that "one extra gift."

That is a good Idea. You can beat the Crowd plus you can have the holidays to shop for yourself since you got all your shopping for your loved ones and friends over with early.

Yep because after thanksgiving is when most people go and it will be crowded. If you go before thanksgiving, at least you know that most of the things will be there in stock. :)

I would start now, but only on things that are on sale. Most Christmas sales don't begin until after Thanksgiving, so do it in stages as you find good bargins.

You could benefit from it. Lots of people already are and the Macy's out here is already decked out in xmas crap. Speaking of the holidays- I just saw a xmas commerical for Dell Computers- wow that was the first I've seen and it hasn't even been a week since Halloween!! SCArRY!!!

I started in October. I may of bought one or two back in September. My goal is to have it done before December gets here but I'm not sure if that'll happen.
