Well about 2 wks ago there was a teacher accused of having sex with a student and the teacher was 27 and the kid was 15[12 year difference] my friend said it was ONLY bad because she was his teacher...Otherwise it would have been ok. She thinks that the age doesn't matter at all. I beg to differ actually and I think up into a certain point age DOES matter. I think it would be ok for a 21 year old to date a 33 year old because they are both mature and able to handle it. What do you think? Does it matter in any situation? Or should age never be a factor?

Yes age does matter if it is illigal. Like you said it isnt wrong for a 21 yr old and a 33 year old, but anyone under 18 is legally not allowed to date anyone over 18.

I agree with you....a 15 and a 27 year old is too much of a difference especially because one was a teacher!
However, if that 15 year old would have waited a while until she was 18-21 than it would be a little different!
I dont think age matters after a certain point, but when you are young(before the age of 20) it does matter because of the maturity levels! I know that it sucks for some younger people out there though because some are more mature....I have a friend who is only 17, and she has two kids!!!! So, the kid that was 15 might just be mature for their age, or they might just want to grow up to fast! Who knows! For a teacher who is almost 30 though........thats too big of a age gap

I think you both are right about this one, first the teacher should not being doing that especially because of the age difference at 15 for most people have not lived enough to be in that kind of relationship. Second you are right about the idea of a 21 and 33 but the people in the relationship have to have the mature enough or there are problems that just will destroy the relationship.

Well what the teacher was doing was illegal. It's rape if the person is over 18 and having sex with someone who is younger than 18. In that case I think it is wrong. On the other hand if the people were both over 18 and had a 12 year age difference I see nothing wrong with it. My boyfriend is 2 years younger than me and I don't have a problem with it.

It's bad because the kid is a minor, and who knows what kind of things happened before the whole sex thing. For my age (16), it would be really awkward to date someone who's around 6 or more years older than me, and I'm sure the people around me will say the same thing. But maybe if I grow a bit older and become an adult, I guess age will no longer matter.

I agree. The notion of age transcending all boundaries in the face of love is only applicable at a certain age when one can think logically and act rationally for himself.

The 15 year old ought not have done it as it only reflected on his act of impulse and more crucially, also reflected on the teacher's inability to conduct herself in the appropriate manner. "Love"(or the need to express it) often comes with a high price to pay. In this case, the teacher could have landed herself in trouble.

Age wouldn't have been an issue here, if both of them truly have feelings for each other, they could have waited. It is not right when they have the status difference clearly outlined but it would not have been wrong if they dated each other as adults.

If they were genuine about each other, they would not have gone ahead with what they did. This only proved to be a case of lust over love.

My mother and father are 5 years apart from each other. Age differece matters less when you're older, but I think you're right about the student being too young to have a sexual relationship with an older teacher. That's more of a pedophile tendancy than actual "love".

Yes I agree 100% with you.my sister met and married a man 12 years older than her she was 19, he was 31. Everyone voiced their opinion even me at the time. Then when they had been married for a couple of years we were asked about the age gap by my sister and mum said once she reached 20 it really didn't matter any more.

obviously its wrong for teahcers and students to have relationships.
even if he wasnt her teacher, it would be sick. What business does a 27 yr old have with a 15 yr old anyways? He could take advantage of his age, and use it to "control" her.

but if your over 18, age shouldnt be a factor if love is invovled.

As long as they are both over 18 who cares how old they are.
You can have a relationship with 10 to 20 years a part.
