What sort of content makes it R?

Thanks!

This question is out of pure curiousity, not for a debate... I haven't seen it yet, and need to know if it's (relatively) OK, or is one of those really shocking ones.

There's 1 or 2 nudie scenes, some usage of the F bomb, and a discussion between the girls in the movie about pregnancy, abortion, and oral sex.

You also have to remember that it came out before there was such a thing as PG 13. Back then, it was either G, PG, or R.

Best as I can remember, last time I saw it was in the theater in 1983. Gosh, I'm old !

The next movie classification is R. Movies rated R, or restricted, contain adult content and material. An R rated film could contain strong language, sexual scenes, violence, and scenes of drug use. Anyone aged 17 or under should be accompanied by an adult or guardian to an R rated movie.

I find it interesting thing about this movie is that when it was originally in theaters it was rated PG when it was originally released on VHS tape it was rated PG only later did they raise it to an R rating. I know I have an original vhs copy. I remember watching the movie one time with a friend of mine and we certainly look each other but there are a lot of F bombs in this movie and we started counting them and were completely surprised that it ever got up as center I remember watching the movie one time with a friend of mine and we certainly look each other both quit there are a lot of F bombs in this movie and we started tempting them and were completely surprised that it ever got past censors

That's an old movie. lets see .... Back then there wasn't pg13 so everything that was not acceptable for younger kids got an R rating. It could have been the the older situation or language

The standards may have changed since then so it wouldn't be considered as racy or mature. It may only be PG-13 now, which probably was not a rating available back then.

Because of references to sex and drug use. It is not provocative in any way, by today or even 80's standards.
