subtitles. I like the multi brain processing. As I'm reading I "hear" what they are saying.

Dubbed. It's so distracting to try and read subtitles -- you can miss some of the action. Or, if you watch the action, you miss the subtitles! Most of the time, they do a very good job of dubbing, it's hardly noticeable.

dubbed or subtitled the problem is when something is lost in translation and you end up missing the point of something,
i prefer dubbed, just becuase some films have so much dialect that you spend more time reading it than watching the film,

I prefer subtitles just because it is distracting when the lips don't match the words. I once watched a Korean movie that was dubbed into Cantonese, and it was just awful. So not only is it distracting, but I think it takes away from the actor's performance..unless it's a comedy-type movie..then it doesn't really matter, the jokes are just not as funny is all =]

I usually prefer dubbed (as long as it is well done) but I don't really mind either way.
*edit* to avoid a thumbs down bonanza can I just point out to everyone who is slating dubbing that the majority of foreign language films I watch are Martial Arts movies so the action is usually more important than the dialogue.

I watch tv with subtitles on for obvious reasons-if it was out of sync, then it would confuse me more.
I watch a lot of foreign films (pretty village, little flame is a corker!) simply because it doesn't matter what lingo they are in, I can still notice a good film when I see one, and if the mouth moves for 30 seconds and all he said was 'yes', it's a pain if you get confused, try to lip read and by then you have lost the plot-in both meanings!
Titles for me-you know where you are. Good question-wanna star?

i much prefer subtitled and really get annoyed when people moan that films are subtitled! i hate it when you get a good foreign film but the dubbing is in crappy american accents. it adds nothing to the atmosphere and mood of the film.

Dubbing obviously doesn't sync with lip movements perfectly, which bothers me (when sound and image are not coordinated well). Dubbing can also be inaccurate. Subtitles are usually truer in translation. And reading is nice to do, I guess.

prefer subtitled, dubbed ones sometimes dont come out right and can make some serious movies into comedies.

i hate dubbing. it is almost always inaccurate (not to say that subtitles are always correct...because they are not. Battle Royale has some good mess ups lol) and the voices (unless the actor was bilingual and did their own voice over) are ridiculous.
you learn to read quick and look up so you almost feel like you aren't reading at all.
