Similarities are pretty easy and pretty obvious since the movie is based on the book. Dobby gets Harry in trouble with the Ministry of Magic because he, Doby, preformed magic in the Dursley's house and the Ministry believed it was Harry. They brew the poly juice potion in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Harry and Ron travel to Hogwarts in a flying car that belongs to Ron's father. Harry is the only one who can hear the basalisk because he's a parsel tounge. Harry has to spend the night in the hospital wing regrowing the bones in his arm after Lockhart's attempt to mend the broken limb left it boneless. It's likely if you say it's in the movie that it's also in the book in most cases.

Differences tend to be more noticable if you've read the book. For one, where is Nearly-Headless Nick's Death Day party? We actually meet Moaning Myrtle at the Death Day Party in the book, but in the movie we meet her in the girls bathroom she haunts. Second there's Peeves, conspicously missing in all the movies, in the book he pelt's Moaning Myrtle with moldy peanuts and at one point shouts that Harry has attacked another student again. Third is classes, Gryffindor has herbology with Hufflepuff in the book. But they have the class with Slytherin in the movie. We can take classes as fourth as well, though in this case we look at the class and Professor in which we're introduced to the legend of the Chamber of Secrets. In the book Hermione asks the question of Professor Binns in History of Magic. In the Movie this is given to Professor McGonagall in Transfiguration. Fifth, what happened to Lockhart's Valintine Day plan? In the book you have all those stupid Valentine's interupting classes and such and even had Ginny send a singing Valentine to Harry. But it's completely gone in the movie.
